Richard was experiencing what felt like shock waves going through his arms, neck, back and chest. His wife, Cindy, called 911 and an ambulance took him to the hospital. She also called on family and friends to pray that God would protect him and give the doctors the wisdom to find out what was wrong with him. The cardiologist who attended to him believed that there was a blockage in one of his arteries. However, when they checked, they found none.
He was released but two days later, he experienced the same sensations. Cindy called 911 and followed the ambulance to the hospital. Suddenly, on the way, the siren lights were turned on. Cindy knew something was wrong. She immediately began to pray resurrection life over her husband, that God would bring healing and wholeness and that God would give the doctors the wisdom to know why this problem kept happening.
In the ambulance, Carlos, the EMT who was with him, realised that something was wrong. Richard went into cardiac arrest and stopped breathing. Carlos began to pray asking God to help him, to do something to save the patient’s life. He looked at the monitor and saw signs that Richard was experiencing a life-threatening heart rhythm called, torsades de pointes. Before he could even give him an electric shock in an attempt to revive him, he noticed that his heart rhythm, on its own, converted itself into a normal rhythm. The chances of coming back from that without medication or electricity is less than one percent! When Richard revived, he asked the EMT what had happened. He told him bluntly that he had died and come back to life!
Doctors implanted a combination defibrillator pacemaker, however, when symptoms returned, Richard was diagnosed with coronary artery spasms which were restricting blood flow to and from his heart. They gave him medication and released him. His family, friends and pastors continued praying for his healing. His wife stood on God’s Word and chose to believe God’s report that he would live and not die and that he would make it through victoriously.
One day they visited a church and received a word of knowledge from the pastor who saw the heart of a man in God’s hands. She told him that his heart was healed and that he would live a long life and get to experience all that he wanted to experience in his life. He received that word. He was finally released to begin exercising. He still receives medication for his heart but has been episode free since January 2023. Richard is thankful everyday for what God has done for him.
Prayer is powerful but so is  God’s Word. Richard’s wife, Cindy, applied both. When she heard those ambulance sirens come on, she didn’t think twice, she immediately spoke resurrection life over her husband. The reality is, words are powerful. The bible says that death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Consistently, Cindy chose to speak God’s Word over her husband’s situation. She was not deterred by what kept happening over and over or by what the doctors said. She chose to believe and declare God’s Word because He still has the final say.
We always have a choice. We can choose to speak based on what we see and hear, or we can choose to speak based on what God’s Word says! Matthew 19:26 declares, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” When we are serving the God of the impossible, we can defiantly stand on His Word in the face of impossible circumstances and expect Him to turn around what we cannot turn around ourselves. Luke 1:37 (KJV) also says, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” Another version says it like this: “For no word from God will ever fail” (NIV).The truth is, God will not fail, He can’t.
If you have not accepted Jesus Christ into your life as your personal Lord and Saviour, I encourage you to do so today. If we want to survive this life with its challenges, we need a God who can consistently help us navigate every challenging situation that will come our way. God is a God of the impossible. His Word cannot and will never fail.
