Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9
Joshua 1:9
"Take courage my heart, stay steadfast my soul, He's in the waiting, He's in the waiting..." (Take Courage, Kristine DiMarco, Bethel Music)
There seem to be so many things "attacking our hearts" these days; attacking our emotions, trying to tear down our walls of security. Sometimes, when we think things are going good something happens and it simply blindsides us. It seems to come out of nowhere, we don't expect it and it catches us off guard and violently shakes, even seems to knock down our wall of security. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? It's at these times that we desperately need something or someone to hold on to. Sometimes we turn to all the wrong support systems and we are disappointed. However, when we finally do turn our eyes and focus to our true Help, that's when we get the relief we need. And God is so faithful, He sends whatever we need, to help us through. At various times of my life I have been through some really trying situations. In recent times I have noticed that God has given me such clear direction and support in my situation. He directed me how to pray; He directed me to the appropriate portions of Scripture to provide encouragement and to speak forth as a tool of warfare; He hooked me up with the right songs that spoke directly to my situation and gave strength and a prophetic word when needed; He even co-ordinated things that I would hear the right sermon or word at the right time and that would give clear direction on how to handle the situation and on my own conduct in the midst of the situation. I told God that He has literally directed my every step during this season and He has. The words of the song at the beginning of this post by Kristene DiMarco has been one of many songs He has used to speak strength and encouragement into my life. Think about it. When we allow the God of the Universe, our Creator who knows us better than even we know ourselves, to get into our business, how can we fail? How can any situation overcome us. We are the overcomers. We are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. Problems don't destroy us - that's the devil's purpose for sending them - they make us better, they refine us, they make us into vessels of honour. It's when we try to handle it on our own and our way that the devil wins. But when we let God handle it, we are victorious in Him...! "And You who hold the stars, who call them each by name, will surely keep Your promise to me, that I will rise in Your victory! (Take Courage, Kristene DiMarco, Bethel Music)
