Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9
Joshua 1:9
In the book of Judges we meet Jael, a brave woman from the tribe of the Kenites. She was used by God to help deliver the Israelites from their oppressive enemies. When Sisera, commander of the Canaanite army came to her tent looking for refuge she drove a tent peg into his temple while he was asleep (Judges 4:17 - 21).
Jael knew what she had to do and she did it. She apparently did not stop to think, or consider what should be done. She did not waver. She probably could have gone and gotten help but she decided that she would be the one to do what had to be done. Sometimes we run to others, hoping that they would do the needful for us. We may try to pass on the baton, so to speak, but, sometimes in life the only one to do the job is us. God doesn't want us to rely on someone else, He wants us to do it. Maybe we lack confidence: "I can't so I won't; he can do it better or she can do a better job." But sometimes there's no room to wait, we just have to act, and act alone. Joel had no help but God and He was all she needed. The same is true for us. At times we will have no help but God and He is all we'll need. But we need to keep focused and do what needs to be done. Don't waver, don't wonder, don't even think . . . just DO! And trust God to make it successful.
